Sherry Kaufman, Director

Sherry Kaufman serves as a Director on the Board of Concerned, Inc. and brings extensive experience in human resources, leadership, and community service. She has worked as an HR Generalist at Myrtue Medical Center since 2011 and previously held leadership roles including HR Director, Key Account Manager, Senior Buyer, General Manager, and Account Manager across multiple organizations. Her professional background spans more than three decades, with a strong focus on people-centered leadership and organizational support.

Sherry earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Clothing and Textiles in Business with a minor in Marketing from the University of Northern Iowa. Her career expertise includes human resources, personnel management, leadership development, and organizational operations, all of which contribute valuable perspective to her board service.

Sherry has a long history of volunteerism and community involvement. Her past service includes St. Michael’s Ladies Guild, Sunday school teaching, AYSO soccer president, Little Cyclone baseball treasurer, and volunteering at the Community Kitchen. She is currently a PEO member and serves as a costume creator and seamstress for the Harlan Community Theatre. She also participates in Relay for Life and the Alzheimer’s Walk, reflecting her ongoing commitment to community causes.

Sherry chose to serve on the Board of Concerned, Inc. after seeing the organization’s impact firsthand while volunteering at the Community Kitchen, where Concerned clients assisted with meal service and other tasks. Witnessing their pride, purpose, and satisfaction made a lasting impression. Her connection to the organization was further strengthened by her sister-in-law, a former Concerned employee whose passion for the work and dedication to clients left a meaningful legacy. Sherry brings her professional experience to the Nomination and Personnel Committees, supporting fair, thoughtful decision-making for staff and those served.

Sherry is motivated by Concerned, Inc.’s commitment to financial stewardship, compassionate care, and empowering individuals to live meaningful lives. She believes deeply in the organization’s mission and is proud to contribute to its continued success. Sherry grew up on a farm, is an Atlantic High School graduate, and values time spent with her family above all else. She enjoys sewing, quilting, outdoor work, and tending to her flower beds. Her guiding thought reflects her outlook on life: Life is beautiful—every moment matters.
